Virtual reality training immerses the trainee in a realistic environment in which their actions impact the outcome. It allows them to make mistakes, get instant feedback, and repeat exercises to improve their proficiency. Research shows that people retain about 70% of what they learn when experiencing training instead of reading or watching a video.
First Responder Operations – Hazardous Materials
Both modules feature a full multi-user experience and can be tailored to a specific incident area set up, time of day, and the chemical cargo can also be configured to represent over 80 different chemicals at this time. You can specify the materials your department will likely encounter and or choose the random setting to be ready for anything. As trainees complete each activity, we track and analyze their results and you can integrate the information into your learning system.
All modules can be completed by a single trainee or team based for up to four responders and led by an incident commander.
Highway Tanker Truck Incident Module:
Respond to an overturned semi-trailer tanker and truck cab and respond to the incident.
- Team based or single person
- Choose from 80 situations with hazardous chemicals
- Choose “fire present” or “no fire”
- Trainees must:
- Collect the proper equipment
- Identify the cargo and type of hazard
- Choose the appropriate evacuation and safety distance
- Secure the area
- Select the best method of extinguishing the fire
- Extinguish the fire
Upon completion the trainee sees a “report card” and can repeat the exercise as necessary. Trainees earn PDHs upon passing the module.
Highway Cargo Truck Incident Module:

- Trainees must:
- Collect the proper equipment
- Identify the car that is on fire
- Identify the cargo and type of hazard
- Choose the appropriate evacuation and safety distance
- Secure the area
- Select the best method of extinguishing the fire
- Extinguish the fire
Upon completion the trainee sees a “report card” and can repeat the exercise as necessary. Trainees earn PDHs upon passing the module.
